Welcome to PhotoTourism DC
This is the inaugural post in what I’m calling Phototourism DC, so I wanted to lay out my vision of what these posts are supposed to accomplish. When I moved to Washington, DC I was so fired up to take pictures but unsure of where to start or what to do. Over the year that I’ve lived here, I’ve had a lot of great adventures and learned a lot of the do’s and don’ts of taking pictures around town. I want to share those experiences with people who are going to be visiting DC, have some photography skills, and are looking for where best to direct their photographic energy and creativity. So in each post I will offer advice and personal experiences about photographing certain locations (e.g., the U.S. Capitol) or certain events (e.g., the Cherry Blossom Festival) so you can decide for yourself how to budget your time when you visit.
Each post will offer a cliff-notes version of the article; some advice about where to go, how to get there, and when to arrive; advice about what equipment to bring (or not bring); some pictures to show you what to expect and inspire your creativity; a means of giving me feedback and asking questions; and the opportunity to connect with me on social media. I hope you find these articles helpful and I wish you safe travels.
